The Whisky
The Whisky
Cutty Sark is an iconic whisky; the distinctive yellow label has graced the world’s best bars and clubs for nearly 80 years. The first light-coloured blended whisky, it was launched at the height of cocktail culture and it has remained synonymous with enjoying great drinks in great company ever since.
I have been in the spirits industry for over 10 years, including a fascinating stint at the Scotch Whisky Research Institute; for me it is a privilege to follow in the footsteps of all the talented and pioneering blenders who have made Cutty Sark a by-word for quality blended Scotch whisky since 1923.
I take huge pleasure in the fact that right now, someone, somewhere is pouring a Cutty Sark for their friends. I am very much looking forward to maintaining Cutty’s reputation while, at the same time, developing exciting new whiskies to complement the range. I hope you enjoy reading about our current range.

If a single malt is like a virtuoso musician, then a blended whisky is the full orchestra. A top quality blended whisky has more range, depth, complexity and balance than a malt. Carefully selected single malt whiskies, predominantly from Speyside (the cradle of single malt whisky distillation), are expertly blended with top quality grain whiskies to make Cutty Sark.
It is matured predominantly in American oak casks which impart less colour to the spirit but impart further subtle and complex flavours. Once matured, the malts are blended together, as are the grain whiskies, before they are married for a period of six months. The marrying process is a particular feature of Cutty Sark and ensures the final blend is harmonised and, therefore, consistent in colour and flavour.

Cutty Black, 40% ABV
Cutty Black 40% ABV
Cutty Black is a darker, richer expression of Cutty Sark’s fresh, uplifting character. It is very much in the house style – refreshing, smooth and soft – but the addition of peated malts gives a taste of the sea and makes for a richer profile; the body is fuller and the finish longer. The blend is smooth and refreshing but with hidden depth; it’s a perfect after-dinner drink intended to stimulate conversation with friends until the early hours.
